Burnside was retained by Allan Avis Architects Inc. to complete the engineering design in support of the renovation to an existing building located at 396 14th Street West in Owen Sound.
The redevelopment project included several site improvements aimed at enhancing functionality and aesthetics, including the addition of a grassed boulevard, the construction of sidewalks leading to the building entrances and around the rear of the structure, and an update to the exterior building aesthetic.
The warehouse underwent significant renovations to be transformed into a supportive housing complex. The complex is comprised of 12 single units specifically designed for supportive housing, along with dedicated office space for support and care staff.
Each housing unit was thoughtfully designed for single occupancy, featuring essential amenities such as a kitchenette, sanitary facilities, and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Additionally, site servicing was reviewed and updated as required to service the new use of the facility.
With Burnside’s involvement, the renovations have rejuvenated the site, transforming it into a functional and supportive housing complex while maintaining the existing building’s integrity. The site improvements and renovations will create a welcoming environment that not only enhances the community but also provides essential services to those in need.
