Neegan Burnside hosted its annual Indigenous Peoples Day celebration. This year Carmen J. Thomas, Cayuga Nation, Wolf Clan came to share his knowledge on stick ball. Carmen, who works for the Iroquois Lacrosse Program, facilitated a great session with staff that outlined the origins of stick ball. He provided great insights into the mechanics of the sport, its meaning and the importance to the Haudenosaunee people. Staff participated in the demonstrations and everyone enjoyed learning the history of the sport, listening to a few stories, sharing a good meal and some even learned a few new tricks, all while enjoying each other’s company in the warm June sun.
Engineering projects of all shapes and sizes.
