Water Resource Management

Burnside has been delivering cost-effective and innovative solutions covering virtually every aspect of water resource management for over 35 years. Our reputation for excellence and integrity has allowed us to develop long-term relationships with our clients and the communities in which we work.

Our clients are facing more complex water resource needs in recent years. Increasing pressures on the environment, demand for radical use of water resources, and changing regulations in an atmosphere of scarce financial resources, make it increasingly difficult to strike a balance in managing this resource - a scarce resource that fluctuates both temporally and spatially to meet competing development interests, such as agriculture, tourism, recreation, rural and urban development, mineral developments, industrial development and energy development

The Benefits

Our approach to water resource management ensures that current and proposed development plans do not compromise the sustainability of the watershed unit. At the same time, consideration is given to flood protection, preservation of the environment and riparian rights.

Fundamental to our approach is the participation of informed stakeholders and community members in the decision-making process. This supports the appropriate allocation and use of water resource. We examine avenues that address our clients' needs, finding appropriate solutions that save time and money.

On-Site Communal, and Low Cost Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems

The on-site treatment and disposal team has extensive experience in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of all types of on-site wastewater treatment and disposal technologies. Our systems have been designed to handle wastewater generated from facilities as small as a single home to large systems capable of serving small communities. Recently, technologies typically in the realm of domestic wastewater treatment have been applied with great success to the treatment of more specialized waste streams such as food processing waste and landfill leachate. Consideration has also been given to application of these technologies to other liquid wastes such as de-icing operations.

Services available:

  • Evaluation of design concepts
  • Evaluation of existing on-site wastewater treatment systems
  • Satisfying the requirements of all required approvals
  • Preparation of detailed drawings and specifications
  • Pre-selection of equipment, if required
  • Construction and installation supervision and system certification
