Orangeville South Arterial Road
The South Arterial Road (SAR) is a 3.9 km road which links County Road 109 (formerly Highway 9), at the west end of Orangeville, with Highway 10 near the Orangeville southeast limits bypassing the central business district in Orangeville. The project evolved to include the Highway 10, five-lane widening from Highway 9, 1 km south as part of the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) County of Dufferin project. The SAR is constructed to an ultimate four-lane subgrade configuration with a two-lane roadway granular base and asphalt platform, which allows for future widenings to four lanes with minimal grading, and environmental impacts for disruption to the traveling motorist. The SAR also consists of an 80 m bridge spanning the Credit River (sensitive coldwater fishery habitat) and a proportion of the roadway is constructed through the Caledon Lakes Wetland Complex. |
